In addition to our regular
Christian Education programs for children, youth and adults, Our
Savior offers many other opportunities for deepening your understanding
of scripture and the
theology of the church.
Education for Ministry (EFM)
EFM is a four year program of study offered by the University of
the South, Sewanee. Presently at Our Savior there are two EFM
classes; a Monday night group that begins each September, and
a Thursday night group that begins each January. The four years
of the program include Old and New Testament, Church HIstory,
and Theology in the World today. Each group meets weekly to discuss
the lessons and reflect on their relevance in our daily lives.
Disciples of Christ in Community (DOCC)
DOCC is an
adult education program designed to provide an experience in
building Christian community while encouraging individual spiritual
development. It is not volunteerism, therapy, or bible study,
although scripture does play an important role. DOCC provides
a time to examine our own spiritual journey while making a greater
commitment to Jesus Christ and experiencing being part of a caring
community. Much of the work of the program occurs within a small
group setting. Each person is an important part of the life of
the group and her/his presence and prayers are valued.
Alpha
The Alpha Course consists of a series of talks addressing key issues
relating to the Christian faith.
Supper There
is a light meal together at the beginning of each session which
gives people a chance to get to know each other.
Talk After each talk we divide into small groups
to discuss the topic of the evening, ask questions and express
opinions.
Coffee & Small groups Listen, learn, discuss
and discover. And ask anything. Alpha is a place where no question
is too simple or too hostile.
