Interfaith Hospitality Network: Our
newest ministry is Interfaith. We joined the Network in 2003
as a hosting church. Interfaith
is a national organization that helps homeless families by
giving them help to get back into the mainstream. Participating
churches provide lodging, meals, and fellowship for one week
on a rotating basis to three families who are homeless. If
you are interested in participating, contact Kit
Brinson or
Marianne Simeneta (860-3115).
The Soup kitchen: Several times a
year members of our parish prepare and serve a meal to Augusta's
homeless at the Master's Table in downtown Augusta.
Columbia County Cares: This local food pantry
was established to
provide emergency food and other services to families in need
in
Columbia County. Our Savior was one of the founding churches. There
are opportunities for volunteers to work at the facility on Columbia
Road in Appling.
Knitting Ministry

The Babushka Program: The Teleios Foundation
helps to sponsor elderly
Russian widows who receive a small monthly pension from their
government and who have no family. Currently Our Savior augments
the pensions of
three babushkas (grandmothers) at a cost of $180 each per year.
We
invite people to help with the financial support, but also to
send our
babushkas cards, letters, small gifts,etc.
St. Stephens Ministry: This ministry serves
those who have HIV/AIDS. It is a local convocational endeavor.
If interested contact Lee
Winger.
Other ministries: In addition to participating
in these on-going
ministries, Human Needs requires financial support to carry on
our
various activities.
We provide food baskets to needy families at Thanksgiving, Christmas,
and Easter.
At Christmas we sponsor an angel tree for needy children.
From time to time we are called upon to assist with emergency
rent and
utility payments, medical needs, counseling needs, etc. We
cannot help
others without your generosity. Keep us in your prayers.
Prayerfully consider how you might help us continue to show those
in
need that Christ loves them. For information about any of these
outreach ministries, contact Marianne
Simeneta.
